Stencil that Bag!!!

Good morning, I know, where have I been all week, I have my injections next week so I have been catching up with all my DT work, plus doing some playing.  Good news is I have a post everyday up until Wednesday, all I have to do is type them all up lol.  Today over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog the new challenge is Decorate a Bag, so I decided to get painty and decorate a fabric bag with Paperartsy Fresco paints and stencils, I can then take my crochet into the hospital and still see lots of paint lol.  As always I have done a step by step which will hopefully inspire you to have a go :-).
I would like to enter my bag into the following challenges -
Country View Crafts Challenge - Stencil It
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Altered Art
Fashionable Stamping Challenge - Flowers
Charisma Cardz Challenge - Show us what else you can do
Crafty Girls Challenge - Anything Goes
Oddball Challenge Blog - Alter something

Now initially I was going for nice and clean, sort of less is more,
with only the saying and flowers, I always admire when other crafter's do gorgeous
but clean looking art, BUT I couldn't stand it, I got to that point and thought, I need
more of me, so I decided to carry on.
The thing I like most about this, is I get the best of both worlds, the gorgeous
simple look flowers with a funky arty layer on top :-)

Of course I just had to test it out, you should have seen me, I wrapped my
crochet in a plastic bag, came upstairs, took the photo and then took it back
downstairs with it's new bag.  You see I like paint everywhere and bringing my
crochet upstairs is always a mega risk of being splashed with paint lol.
I am planning on making some small crochet flowers in these colours to add
to the bag :-)

Lots of pictures showing close ups

And now for the step by step, all products are at the bottom of the post :-)

To start with I found a piece of cardboard to put in my bag to protect the paint
from sticking to the other side.

These are the colours I planned.

To start with I tested it out in my journal :-)

As you can see, the wool that inspired me lol.  I added the paints
onto non stick mat and added fabric medium.

My first layer was Mermaid, all of the paints was added with my brayer.

then guacamole

snowflake

bora bora

guacamole

mermaid

finally pansy.

When I am using part of masks I like to tape up the area I am not using,
it also means that the sticky part helps the stencil not to move.

I used eggplant though a Crafter's Workshop Stencil and my stencil brush.

Next I used guacamole with Paperartsy stencil

I then added the flowers in mermaid and pansy

At this point I had to charge my camera lol.  All I did was add some more
leaves at the bottom and then using my Montana black paint pen to go around
the edges.

Next I used eggplant with some fabric medium and used my brayer to spread
it out on my mat so I could use it as an ink pad.

I stamped the scrip from Paperartsy HP1304

I then repeated the process with bora bora.  Next I used bora bora and pansy
mixed with fabric medium and snowflake though the Dot Fade stencil.

I stamped the line stamp from Paperartsy EEV05

and used a pencil with the three colours to add dots.

I made this stamp from spare rubber and stamped the circles with the three colours.

Also before the above I had added white pen highlights.

I took a pen top and used it to make circles and cover some of the above
circles with south pacific, little black dress and eggplant.

I then added snowflake paint dots in the circles and then added black dots with my pen.

I hope you enjoyed my crochet bag, and I shall be back tomorrow (maybe this afternoon as I'm planning on playing lol) with another creation.
Happy Crafting :-)
Hugs Kezzy xxxxx
