Paperartsy Inspiration - Darcy Wilkinson

Hi all, yep Sunday morning seems to be the day that I always add my Paperartsy Inspiration entry lol.  This week the designer is Darcy Wilkinson and wow you really need to go over to the Paperartsy blog and see what she has been doing, I have been totally wowed, her art is amazing, it's the type of art you see in those funky art shops in London that are real expensive but you just have to have something lol.
I wish I could have played more, obviously I spent all bank holiday weekend and most of last week finishing of the end of year accounts for companies house, then I had to finish 12 ATC's for the woyww4 swap.
I had started a small bag last night but it was obvious I wasn't going to finish it so I had a go at the coasters that I really really wanted to try :-)

I used some beer mats I had, to protect the cardboard I used
glossy medium, then I blobbed Fresco paints in
haystack, pumpkin soup, butternut, zesty zing, smoked paprika
(thought I would go for it all, why not hey lol).
I used an Itunes card to scrap the paint on.  Then I let dry,
I wanted a tad bit more orange so I added some more
smoked paprika and another blob of zesty zing so it wouldn't go
too orange.  Then I used a crafters workshop stencil mini punchinella
and sprayed Adirondack colour wash in stream and butterscotch.
This went completely wrong, but I have learned to carry on
as you can surprise yourself.  One of them was really concentrated
while the other I dabbed back, this is why they look slightly different below,
I have to admit I thought the one with the less colourwash would be better but
I think I prefer the more concentrated one.

Next I brayered the snowflake, stamped with stamps from
HP1109, HP1009 and HPXT01 (the splats).
Then as Darcy did I rubbed back, I just went for it and wow I love them,
I love the fact that the yellow paint with the stream colourwash gives
a green colour throughout.  WOW love them, I am going
to find some proper cork coasters so I can make a set,
I think these would make great gifts.
I varnished them with crafters companion varnish spray.
I would like to see what the fresco pearl would be like, but wasn't sure
if it would be too opaque, I still have to play to see what it does :-)

Look at the lovely pastel blue with the green :-)

Right I better go enter.  I can't wait to find out what she does next time.
Happy Crafting :-)
Hugs Kezzy xxxxx

In a word.. Gorgeous! Its fab to see the way the previous layers react, makes it all a bit unpredictable but that is half the fun. Hope you had fun. X

They look lovely, I think like you and prefer the one with more colourwash. I used Fresco Satin Glaze and it made the colourwash run.

These are gorgeous and they have photographed really well too. I agree with you and Jo that the one with the more colourwash is the best, but they are both nice in their own way. They would make lovely gifts. xxx
