Paperartsy Whimsical Challenge and Giveaway

Hi ya,  Yep it happened again, two weeks ago today I said I was doing a giveaway and I had all these posts to put up using Paperartsy products and the giveaway was for two weeks as nothing should happen in two weeks.  Later that same evening my mum was rushed into hospital.  So of course I haven't been here in a evening to be able to pop up the posts.  Anyway all is good, she came out a few days ago and all is fine.  So I shall again be trying to post this week and the giveaway will now be drawn on Monday the 26th March.  I have decided to open it up to facebook and Instagram so lots of chances of winning.

Today's post has been done for the Paperartsy Challenge Whimsy.  I decided to do some whimsy style flowers on a cheap £1 canvas from the pound shop.

All products I used are at the bottom of the page, with links to That's Crafty as I buy all my Paperartsy products from there.  Plus a photo of the giveaway is at the end.

Here is the finished canvas.  I have a few close up pics and then a quick step by step. I used Paperartsy paints with a thickening gel by liquitex. It makes the paint thicker so you can use a palette knife. It gives you the feeling of painting with oil paint. It does take 24 to 48 hours to dry. I love the texture it gives.

The best thing about Paperartsy paints is that they have a beautiful chalk finish and the opaque colours lay elegantly.  I used a cheap canvas and I gave it 2 coats.  I didn't even use gesso.

Coat one dry

Coat two dry.

Next I used a stencil with snowflake.

I used beach hut and limelight with a baby wipe for the next layer.

It became a bit dark so I used a wash of mermaid.

Next some stamping.

With my fingers I painted 3 circles and used a stencil with leaves.

I then made the circles a bit bigger.

Here you can see how the paint looks with the medium.

I started with the leaves and used a palette knife. I then left it for 2 days to dry.

Next I used 3 paints with the medium.

Just look at the cerise so yummy.

I used a palette knife and layered and mixed colours in circular motion.
To finish off I added a quote, some shading and some micro beads.

Here is the giveaway.

Right I shall be back tomorrow with another Paperartsy project.

Happy Art :-)

So glad to hear all is now good with your Mum Kezzy. This is a beautiful canvas, the colours are striking and I love how you have created so much dimension with your mix of paint and paste. Stunning display, you should enter this in our That's Crafty *Spring into Action* Blog Challenge, we would love you to share it over there.
Wishing you a creative week ahead
