Playing with Infusions and Doodles

Good evening, sorry it's been a week, I'm afraid the accounting has been a little bit of a sod lol, but almost finished, plus I have been doing samples for the workshop for the WI so blogging sort of got lost.  Paperartsy have had some brilliant challenges lately but each time I have be inspired to have a go it's been too late.  That of course never stops me lol, I like to make these my play days.  Of course when I play I like to try new techniques (resist with masking fluid and doodles this time) and something I haven't used but bought (infusions).  A lot of times when playing I don't end up with anything and as the step by step shows I ended up with 2 unusable cards as I went wrong at the end, but I loved them so much I redid them lol, but I did show the ones that went wrong.  As always the step by step is at the bottom of the post.
I would like to enter the following challenges :-
Paperartsy - doodles
Country View Crafts Challenges - Use A Stencil
Love to Create Challenge - Anything Goes Mixed Media

It was mega shining when I took the pics, a better one is below,
but I have added this one as well to remind me of the sunshine as tomorrow
is supposed to be horrible.

Step by Step

I had this idea that maybe I could use masking fluid through
a stencil and I have to admit it was easy and it came off really easy.
I just used a piece of cut n dry and then I used a tooth brush (old of course lol)
to flick the masking fluid all over the cards.

Next I sprinkled the infusions plus some of the magicals

And then I sprayed.  I know I can be a bit heavy handed with water,
but I love the way I can move the water around so I get light and dark spots.

This was after the first layer dried, I loved it then and maybe I should have
left it but I like to keep layering when I play to see how far I can go.

This is the 2nd layer, still nice.

After the 3rd layer, definitely darker now and vivid which is what I wanted.
I love how I get specks of green.

Now for the blues and greens.

Again this was the finished piece after 3 layers.

I had a random piece of card that I had added clear texture paste through so I had a go
at that while I was at it.

Then I doodled with a mask pen, to colour this I picked the first layer
from the green and blue card left over on the mat, then during the
2nd and 3rd layers I just kept dipping it in, I love the effect it gave, it reminded me
of distress inks.

After the playing session.

Now I had the idea of doodling on the flowers, I have a zentangle and
doodle book and whilst watching tv I have been teaching myself the basics.
This is the first card which as you can see I ruined.  I decided to
use white embossing powder know the card was dry, but completely forgot that
the zentangle part wasn't.  Then I heated it up and wiped it off and stamped
in black, but as you can see it looked awful and was definitely bit fodder.

Here you can see that before the idea of doodling I had tried outlining but
I didn't like that.  I used this to practise the doodles I was using.

So for the new cards I went with 2 layers and kept some areas quite light.
Everything used was the same as the step by step cards except I used
some flowers not just from the JOFY 008 stencil but also used 003 and 004.

And the card that was a piece extra I did some more doodling.
Think I might used this cut up as a border in my journal.

Right I better be off, still working on the last sample for the WI women so they can choose what to do.  I am excited I have never done a workshop before and looking forward to having some fun with them.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit.

Happy Art :-)
Hugs Kezzy xxxxx

Really lovely work on these cards, Kezzy. It's so helpful to know when things can go a bit wrong because you can teach people to avoid making the same mistakes and it helps you to remember for the future. I love the black and white doodling within the white space left by the masking fluid - what a great idea! xx

I did wonder if I could use Masking fluid through stencils... I never had the nerve but now you've tried... so thanks for sharing this! Love your background but the black & white Zentangle looks great!
