Creative Expressions - Flower Canvas

Hi all, yep it's Monday so it's time for my project for the Creative Expressions Blog and this month we are working with the amazing Henna stamps.  At first glance you may think wow they are large how will I use them, well over the next few weeks I have done large with them and really small as the details within the stamps is gorgeous.  As usual I will highlight the products in red and you can find where to buy from and what products they sell by going to the Creative Expressions Website :-).

The canvas is 36cm by 25cm.
The Henna stamps as flowers look super gorgeous :-)

Lots and Lots of close ups :-)

And now for the step by step, lots of pics so maybe it's time to grab that cuppa lol

To start with I wanted to use some stencils I only used two in
the end That Special Touch - Clouds and Dragon Flies and
I used Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste Clear mixed with Creative Expressions
Micro Beads.

The next two pictures shows how gorgeous the beads look
in the texture paste.

The dragonfly Stencil I only used the dragonfly bit, not the whole
frame.  Can you see those wonderful beads, lovely :-)

More Pics

Next I used the Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste to make some grasses
at the bottom of the canvas, I was going to use a paint brush but ended up
using my palette knife.

I laid it on quite thickly and then started flicking the grasses up.

Next I used some old book pages, to make a type of runny glue medium
I used Cosmic Shimmer Glue with some water, it worked perfectly.

A sideways picture of what's been done so far :-)

Next is time for the colours.  I used Distress Paints for this as
I wanted to be able to add lots of water and get them running into each other.

To start with I used Distress Paint Broken China and spritz the
canvas with water and added the paint.

Just a simple layer to start with.

On the bottom I used Distress Paint Bundled Sage

Next I added Distress Paint Salty Ocean for the top and Mowed Lawn
for the bottom.  Now normally when using paint you would cover
the glue resist around the pages no problem, but because I was
using water it still was showing through so next I sorted this out.

I used Distress Paint Broken China and Salty Ocean around all the resist
edges on top, and then Bundled Sage and Mowed Lawn for the bottom.
The reason I had to do around the dragonflies and clouds etc is
when I was gluing I thought I might as well give them a coat lol.

Now that has completely dried it was time to start chucking some more
paint on with lots of water.  To start with I used Distress Paint broken china
and salty ocean and spritz the water on the canvas, then I was
lifting the canvas up and down so it would spread.

You can see here it all blending, lovely :-)

Next I used Distress Paint Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky doing
exactly the same as above (the previous layer needs to dry first)

Lots of dark areas for the summer rain clouds, down worry we
go light again lol

Next I use Distress Paint Salty Ocean and Picket Fence, exactly the
same as above, bet your getting the gist of it now lol lol.

And here it is a bit lighter.

Next I used Distress Paint broken china, stormy sky, salty ocean and picket
fence and went in with my fingers to add some little touches here and there.

I then used Distress Paint picket fence to lighten the clouds, I used
a paint brush to do this.  Now it looks like a summer sky :-)

I did the same as above pictures with the bottom, but this time
it only took a few coats as I didn't need as many colours as the sky.
I used Distress Paint bundled sage, mowed lawn and peeled paint.

Now for some Shimmer, I used on the top Cosmic Shimmer vintage
mist Astral Mystery and Cosmic Shimmer mist Teal Wash. and for the
bottom I used Cosmic Shimmer Chalk mist Pastel Green, Cosmic Shimmer
mist Golden Mint and Cosmic Shimmer Vintage mist Patina.
I just gave them lots of sprays and lifted the canvas so they would mix.

Now for the flowers, I grabbed some Creative Expressions Card and lots
of different colours of Distress Paint.

I added a first layer of on each of the cards shall tell you the colours later on.

For the Pink I used Distress Paint Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Picket Fence
with a spray of water and Cosmic Shimmer Mist Rose Pink, I layer them on
my heat mat and then added my painted card on top, I kept doing this until I liked
what I had, drying in between layers.

You can really see the shimmer.

I used the following colours -
Distress Paint Seedless Preserve, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Picket Fence with
Cosmic Shimmer Mist Candy Pink and Pearl.
Distress Paint Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserve and Picket Fence with
Cosmic Shimmer Mist Candy Pink and Pearl.
Distress Paint Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Picket Fence with
Cosmic Shimmer Mist Rich Gold
Distress Paint Mustard Seeds, Spiced Marmalade, Picket Fence and Ripe Persimmon with
Cosmic Shimmer Mist Rich Gold

Next I wanted to see which stamps I wanted to use so I can stamp on
the above coloured cards I had done, these were cut out last week, every time
I have a stamp set I like to cut them out to see what I have, these can
then be used for masks or for seeing which goes right on a project.

I used Creative Expressions Stamps Henna Petals, Henna Mandala, Henna Mosaic
and Henna Rangoli with Perfect Medium and Cosmic Shimmer
Black Detail Embossing Powder.

I decided I wanted some leaves so I grabbed some cardstock that
was left over from earlier on and used Distress Paint Mowed Lawn
and Bundled Sage.

I added the paint on, then roughly brushed it over and then
used Cosmic Shimmer Mist Golden Mint.

I then used Cosmic Shimmer Detail black embossing powder with
my favourite leaves from Creative Expressions Stamp Set Wise Friend.

Don't they look really bright and funky, I definitely love how they came out :-)

Next it's time for added some more texture via stamping and stencils to the canvas.

I used Archival French Ultramarine, Cornflower Blue, Emerald Green,
Viridian, Marine Blue and Jet Black inkpads with stamps from Creative Expressions
stamp sets Vintage Artist (script and words), Art Sayings (words) and
stamps Alpha Writing and Chicken Wire.

Before I stamped (oops picture in wrong place lol) I used That Special Touch
Clouds and Polka Dots with Distress Inkpads Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean.

Now for the dragonflies (bet you though I had forgotten, guess what I did lol).
I used Distress paints with a paint brush not foam lol.

First Distress Paint Mustard Seeds

then Spiced Marmalade

then Ripe Persimmon

A touch of Rusty Hinge

Edged with Festive Berries

With a slight touch of Fired Brick

I also did the clouds with Distress Paint Broken China and Picket Fence

I don't have the darkest Distress Paint so I used Eco Green Paint Zucchini and
went over the grassed to darken them a bit.

I edged all the flowers and leaves with Distress Marker Black Soot

I used some Creative Expressions Pearl Gems coloured with Adirondack Alcohol Ink
Pink Sherbet and Peach Bellini.

I did a crochet chain with a hook size 4mm some of the Creative Expressions
Primary Twine.
I forgot to take a picture but for the finishing touches I used the following
Creative Expressions Metallic Gilding Wax - Deep Red, Patina and Peal Moon and
then edged the whole canvas with Distress Paint Black Soot.

Right I better be off, wow if you have got this far well done lol, I think it's time for my cuppa now :-).
Any questions please just ask and I will try to help :-), thanks for visiting.
Happy Crafting :-)
Hugs
