WOYWW 159

Hi all, it's Wednesday which can only mean it's time for everyone to show their desks and of course we all meet at the famous Julia's.  I wasn't going to do it today, as I've been having a bit of a tough time at the moment, but I guess I'm just addicted to it!!!!  It's a bit embarrassing, but for the last 8 months I have been having problems with my son who has just turned 13, to be honest it's been going on longer but it surfaced around then, he started nicking etc for food, he is over weight but the way he has been has been almost a needing problem, he also has been having these really violent mood swings where he chucks things about, screams horrible things etc and then is fine and almost doesn't understand why he did it.  It's really taking it's toll on all of us especially my daughter who is 15.  In the end I have had to ask for help, I got a letter a few days ago that we will be getting help from a support worker to work with us as a family.  I also have had him at the doctors whose doing blood tests for glucose etc for the amount of sugar he is needing, also to help access and make sure that he isn't going through this because of an illness.  The last few weeks while asking for help, I have been shying away from crafting but now am starting back into it, one thing that help me through was colouring so now I have all these images to make cards with.  I felt like I was failing as a mother by asking for help, but in the end my very very best mate told me I needed to get professional help, it's been heart breaking and not sure why I feel like I need to share with you all, and many of you may look down on me but hopefully if anyone is going through the same they will feel like they can ask for help.

Right I shall be quick with pictures, last night I finally did a card (posted earlier) so the mess is from that, also stamps on working desk is my plans for a DT piece

On left hand side is a gorgeous ATC I received, I need
to go thanking and will take better pic for you all, but
it really picked me up today, also some gorgeous
cute mini stamps with the ATC, all from
Canada.

Found that we had a fabric shop nearby so
I went to have a look, they have bargain buckets where
scraps and display fabric you can buy, all that you can
see cost £4!!!

I would like to say a bit thank you and welcome to all my followers and I am trying to get around to you all, also I have visited some woywwer's but was rather late, so still got some catch up to do!!!
Thank you for taking the time to visit, Happy woyww :-) Hugs Kerry xxx

It is hard being a parent and no shame in asking for help. You need to be sure there is nothing medically wrong so you can go from there. Lots of lovely coloring it looks like on that desk and congrats on snagging fabric at such a bargain!

Hi Kezzy I wonder why we find it hard to say 'You know what I need a bit of help here' (I'm exactly the same). You have definitely done the right thing. I hope they find out what is going on with your son. Maybe sharing here you might just find that someone with the answer you need. If not you will definitely know that you are not alone. Remember to take time to craft as it is definitely a stress reliever. Best wishes to you and your family for a solution soon. Hugs from Helen 107

Sorry to hear about your current problems, hope things get back to normal soon. Colouring is a great way to lose yourself for a few moments, I use it as a way to relax the day to day stresses. Visit Amanda J @76 I have been colouring on mass lol x

I have a teen boy too and it would just break my heart to have him going through what your dear son is going through. I hope you all find some answers soon and things begin to look up. And I think you have done the nest thing you can for him, by asking for help. You could have just stuck your head in the sand and never dealt with it and how would that have helped him? You've been brave and I hope you keep at it! :)
Thanks for sharing your workspace and your heart with us.

That was an emotional moment you shared with us and I thank you for that. We all need to reminded that it's OK to ask for help, better than ignoring it and having huge regrets later. My thoughts and prayers go out to you! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

It is a very trying time and difficult to go through this with your child. There is no shame in asking for help and searching out someone that can help. I went through a similar issue with my daughter and she is now 33 and things are much better. At the time I felt like a complete failure and just knew it had something to do with what I had done or not done as a parent. In therapy we learned that the imbalances in hormones can sometimes cause this jekyl and hyde personality switches. Good going getting help and just wish I was close enough to give you a hug. Don't forget to take time for yourself and do some crafting! Vickie #23

Hello!

I hope that you find some answers to help diagnose the problem. My heart goes out to you. My oldest son has a disability and lives in a group home - he has a disability, is bi-polar and diabetic. There is a time when a mom needs to ask for professional help.Wishing good things for you and your family!

You're a mother, not a professional psychologist or psychiatrist. Help is the one thing you really, really need right now. And you never need be ashamed to ask or accept it. Your life has been turned upside down enough. It's now time to allow others to help put yours and your families paths back on track.

I wish you only the best. Anyone who can't approve of your message doesn't deserve to be here. You GO GIRL!!

Cor Kez, there's no shame in seeking help, sounds like a weight has been lifted already, and I'm perfectly sure that you'll have your lovely boy back in no time once all the pieces are glued together. Bless him, it's scarey for everyone isn't it. So...what's the plan with all these bargain bits of fabric then? Bet it'll be something hugely crafty and lovely, knowing you!

Gah, forgot to say - bit of a ribbon scheme going on at the paper desk.....and a colour theme actually....there must be a plan...!
