Good evening, hope your all having some crafty time :-).  I am popping on to share my creative desk and joining in with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  I didn't get to visit everyone I wanted to last week so I will definitely catch up this week :-).  I need my weekly dose of seeing/nosing around all those arty stashes lol.

I am having a play with some metal and wood to make a owl.
It's so much fun rummaging through your stash, I always forget what I have lol.

Oh my, Helen your right, I think I really do need to sort out that pile.
At the moment I am doing accounts for about the next 5-6 weeks.  Then I take
a week off, that week I am planning on sorting.
At the moment my spare time is art, reading or tv to help me relax after
wanting to chuck accounts/pc/numbers out the window!!!!!
The crochet canvas has now moved to near my desk ready for it's first layer of paint
hopefully lol.

Not much has changed here at all.

Some mop up tags I am wanting to sort through and a rough
drawing for a card for my son's birthday.

Don't think this side has changed at all lol.

Right I am off to go and decide on a base for Mr Owl and start on that guitar card as it's his birthday on Friday eeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkk.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit.

Happy Woyww

Calico Craft Parts DT Application Post

Good evening, I am popping on this evening to apply for the new DT spot over at Calico Craft Parts. They are a fantastic company and it's great to see them back (Calico Crafts) after the devastation when their business burnt to the ground.  I can remember the sadness that was felt through blogland.  I remember when they started doing wood, all the designs were amazing and the price was brilliant.  I am so happy that they are back now, around a year I believe.  All the new DT came back with them and wow they have a fabulous DT, the creative inspiration is awesome and what they can do with wood is out of this world lol.  Why not jump on over to their blog HERE.
So I was ultra excited to find out that a DT spot is open and I just had to have a go and apply, we have to do a blog post with 3 makes that show your style so here goes :-)

To start with I do love a bit of a rustic design especially with lots and lots of layers,
the more layers the happier I am, especially if it ends up with lots of touchy
feely texture.
The full post is HERE with a full tutorial with 17 step by step pictures.
Also on every post I do I always add a full product description at the end of my post.

My other love is Texture, the more texture the more excited I become.
I also love to challenge myself.  You wouldn't believe it here but I had made
a huge mistake by adding bright neon pink paid and angelina fibres on the
background and I show how I mended it in the end.
Yes it meant more layers but when working with wood you can
guarantee that it's robust enough to take it.
This was a Calico Craft Parts chunky atc and Seahorses.
You will find the post HERE again with a full tutorial with over 30 step by step pictures.

This the back.

My other love is bright funky colours, but of course it will have some
form of texture blended in.  These are altered playing cards, but I am
showing them purely because of the colours and how they make me feel so
bright and happy.  The houses were made up of mop up deli papers and the background
has lots of lovely layers.  You can find the post HERE with a full tutorial of 35 step by step

And for a previous DT I was asked to decorate one of their shrines for the
Craft Stamper Magazine which was a huge honour, I also had a full page,  in the February
2016 edition, which I was very proud of and I still look at it thinking wow I did that.
I am still beaming lol.

I am currently on no DT's, I have been on Creative Expressions DT for a year and That Craft Place for 3 years.

I hope everything is on here that need's to be, first time I have done a post like this.  Thank you for taking the time to look at my application and good luck to everyone who has applied.

Happy Art :-)

Home Sweet Home

Good evening, hope your all having a creative time wherever you are :-).  I'm popping on today to show you my altered playing cards for a swap I am in.  Lots of texture, bright funky paints and houses from deli paper.  I have done a full step by step and all the products will be listed at the end of the post.  Enjoy :-)
I would like to enter the following challenges :-
Our Creative Corner Challenge - picture below
More Mixed Media Challenge - Yellow (two of the altered playing cards are yellow)
A Bit More Time To Craft - Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion  - Anything Goes

9 Altered Playing Cards for the Mini Marvels Swap on Facebook

Lots of close ups :-)

And now for the Step by Step ;-
I started by adding texture paste to the cards using Mr Holtz stencil.  Then
I gave it a good coat of gesso (map of cornwell was on the back lol)

I had an idea of using gelli prints/mop up paper to stamp on.
I knew I wanted houses as I have loads of stamps of them lol that I haven't
used yet.  But then I saw the deli paper that had squares that I had punched out when
I was doing a mini mosaic canvas HERE.

I love all the popping colours

I used some patterned paper and stuck the deli paper on top in pieces.

I used some other mop up card for the roofs.

Here we are, the mini houses all ready, but now I had to think of some colour
for the background.  Initially I was going to do some sky but I let myself just
be free with my paints and in the end I went with MEGA COLOUR :-)

Now you may think this picture is random, but read on lol ......................

Here are the paints I chose first, I knew I wanted to get my brayer out so those
sheets you can see underneath are laminated sheets.  I used different
colours for each i.e. all blues use the blue sheet.  Its so helpful.  Sometimes
I add white on there (even though I have a white one) but at least I know when
it's dry it will peel off.

My first colour chartreuse I painted all over the front.

Next I brayered on lime

then vivid lime green

Next white

Then I added neon green fluid paint with water.

Here is the blue finished

Next are the warm colours

And pink seems to have disappeared but you can see it on this pic.  Next I added some
black paint through a stencil.

Then some stamping

Now for the backs I used these paints.  I bought the silks about a year and a half ago
and even though I haven't used them in a few months they have gone mega dried up
all the mica clumped together.  I was able to add some water to help but all they are
useful now is for dripping :-(
Has anyone else had this problem?  I never keep them in the sun.

Ooops I missed this picture for the front, some metallic ink splatter.

I wanted some of the playing card to show, first I stamped the sentiment and edged
with the neon green.

Next used neon paint with the brayer.

Some bubble wrap stamping with white paint (I love when I can bubble wrap stamp lol)

Dripping with silks

Some stamping

Some splattering

Here are all the houses sorted onto which cards.
With my Winnie the Pooh Cuppa Tea :-)

Edging with a promarker, inkpad over the top to highlight the texture,
and some pen work around the windows.

All done and drying.

My clean up from this playing session, I wonder what this will be :-).

Hope you enjoyed my step by step today, thank you so much for taking the time to visit.

Happy Art :-)
